THE HOSTING TEAM
We are extremely grateful for our local organising team from SocialFokus for their support!
Steve Ryman (global nomad) | Art of Hosting Steward & Sacred Outsider
Steve is a global nomad, often a Sacred Outsider, traveling the world, witnessing life’s unfolding, asking questions, listening and sharing stories, offering himself and his gifts where he can contribute. But most of all, he is continually learning what it means to be fully human and how to be more present in all situations. Steve has worked for 35 years in American healthcare facilitating innovation, collaboration and change process, and developing high performing work teams. As a practitioner and steward of the Art of Hosting Conversations, he has a particular interest in frontier areas of the world and in helping to build capacity and supporting newer practitioners in their learning. That has led him to work for the last 6 years in China, India, Vietnam, Africa and Europe with individuals, organizations and communities, helping them find innovative solutions to their challenges.

Marjeta Novak (Slovenia) | Art of Hosting National Steward & Nature Lover
Marjeta enjoys hosting spaces where people of diverse backgrounds engage in real dialogue, building on their personal as well as group strengths in order to co-create solutions that are sustainable and life-serving. She is the national steward of the Art of Hosting Conversations That Matter network, which was birthed in her native Slovenia in early 2000's. Marjeta, CPF, also leads the Slovenian Chapter of the International Association of Facilitators, promoting participatory approaches and growing hosting/facilitation capacity in the country.
Supporting groups, Marjeta builds on strength-based approaches such as Appreciative Inquiry, Nonviolent Communication and nature-inspired practices. An inquiry that is very much alive in her is re-evoking indigenous wisdom in the region. She particularly enjoys reclaiming individual and community rituals that support people in times of transitions to retrieve their wholeness. |
Melinda Varfi (Hungary) | Art of Hosting Practitioner & Co-founder of Impact HUB Budapest
Melinda believes in the power of communities and is passionate about helping them grow to contribute towards a sustainable society. This was her motivation to co-found the Impact Hub Budapest 3 years ago.
She enjoys engaging with people in meaningful conversations about their environment and enabling them to recognize their own true power to make steps towards a more sustainable world. As an avid changemaker she keeps questioning the traditional way of doing business in life and practicing a mindful co-existence with the elements. |
Annamária Erdei (Hungary/Belgium) | Art of Hosting Practitioner & Host in European Commission
Annamária is a participatory host and process designer at the European Commission (EC) where she has been working since 2005, currently in corporate and performance management at the Secretariat General. She has applied the practices of the Participatory Leadership and the Art of Hosting (AoH) Conversations that Matter as a pioneer in her multicultural work environment. She designs, supports and hosts participatory processes and events in a number of departments of the EC. The Circle way, which is the basic methodology of Art of Hosting Conversations that Matter has changed her life and has become one of her core life practices. "Practice" in fact is a key word in her life: she supports holistic practices everywhere, especially their consistent and regular use, as a way to change the world for the better. She believes everything is possible if we change the way we listen to each other and to ourselves. She aims at enabling people (including herself) to listen holistically. She sees life as a continuous learning journey and is deeply grateful for the work she can do with AoH.

Mischa Altmann (Austria) | Art of Hosting Practitioner & Sustainability Facilitator
I believe in value-driven work (and leadership) based on strong ethical principles and underpinned by the biophysical limits of Earth and life. I am passionate about people and my goal is to enable teams and communities to flourish by combining creative participatory hosting methods with a scientific, principled sustainability strategy.
I work as process consultant, facilitator and innovation catalyst and mentor. My experience ranges from training as electronic and electrical engineer and business, working in a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, struggling in a failed eco-start-up (lots of learning!), exploring as development consultant in India, to designing new participatory programmes for conferences. My work ranges from inter-religious programs on climate change to developing innovation formats for entrepreneurship incubators. I enjoy meaningful conversation, nature, listening to music, hiking and silence. |
